CSI Job questions

Saera
What kind of jobs in the CSI field only require a high school diploma? I graduated high school in 2008 and I've always been interested in the CSI aspect of the Criminal Justice field. I'm hoping I can find a job in the CSI field that only requires a high school diploma for now. My goal is to work my way through college where I'd be getting degrees that would help me to become a Criminalist. Unfortunately, after going through some of the employment stuff on this website, I don't have very many of the other qualifications for the jobs that someone with just a high school diploma could look for in this field. Is there a chance that someone like me could be hired in one of those areas with the understanding that I'd get the instruction necessary to fullfil the other requirements? Or is it an absolute necessity that I already fullfil the all the other requirements before applying for the job?

Occasionally there is a job posting for a CSI position that only requires a high school diploma or GED. However, with all the interest in this type of job almost all agencies can raise the minimum qualifications and still attract more candidates than necessary. Agencies would rather consider people that already have degrees because the degree shows the candidate has put in time and effort to prepare for the position.

Also, with all the qualified candidates that apply, it is very unlikely an agency would consider a candidate that does not meet the minimum qualifications, even if the candidate promises to get a degree later.

Perhaps you should consider getting an online degree in CSI or Forensics. The online degrees are usually less expensive and can be completed in less time then campus based programs. Check the College and University page on this website for listing of online programs.
