Getting a job.

Rose
Im in school working towards my degree in science and Criminal justice, i asked my criminal justice teacher who is an ex cop, if I could get a job with a dui on my record, that is a misdemeanor which happened almost 4 years ago, he told me yes but he wasnt sure because when they do a backround check it will come up. Can you help with the question, I know i want to do something in criminal law but i dont want to be set back because of a mistake I made.

What you can do is apply for a position you are interested in and when or if they ask if there is anything that might come up on the background check, be honest. Most departments would rather you be honest about your mistakes than lie about them and have them find out secondhand. Good Luck.

Re: Getting a job as a forenisic sciencsitit

Is it better to have them at least expunged off your record if applicable? Or is it best to just leave them alone. Of course I am always up front about my record and admitting my faults, but I understand I can can have them expunged; I didn't know if it would be worth getting them expunged or just leave well enough alone. ???? Can anyone answer...

I graduate in a year and can't wait to start my career. I hope my past does not hinder my career.

Thank You,
Kelly
