How to get a job in the forensic field when you already have the degree?

Calandra Haynes
Hello, I am a graduate and I live in North Carolina. I am a graduate from Walden University I have earned a M.S. in Forensic Psychology specialization mental health applications my G.P.A. 3.8
I have always maintained a strong work ethic and maintained high grades during undergraduate and graduate school. I have been working in retail for about seven years and I am having a problem with getting a job within the criminal justice or mental health field. I have tried volunteering but people are not accepting volunteers anymore. What is the best way for me to be able to branch away from retail and to start utilizing the knowledge that I learned? I definitely do not want my degrees to go to waste. I also have a bachelors in psychology. Thank you.

The only way you're going to get out of retail and into your field is to apply. You won't get anywhere without that application.

There is an abundance of careers available in the mental health forensics field. Try looking here http://www.crime-scene-investigator.net/employment.html . down in the Other Related Jobs section there are a few available jobs listed. Most of them require a PhD. There are clinician positions at those same agencies that we do not post on the jobs page, but with a little looking you can find them. Good luck and hope you find your dream job!
