I am currently looking for a entry level position for a CSI career, I'll be moving to the Orange County FL area from P.R. pretty soon. I have just finished my BA in Criminal Justice, I also have a 1 year degree as a Paramedic, an Honorable Discharge from the US Army and I'll be taking a few courses from CSI Academy of Florida in Blood Spatter Analysis (to start off with). I am just trying to get a job in which I'll be able to acquire experience since I have 6 years of experience in the Hotel and Casino security field. Are there any job openings available, if so please let me know so I can apply for the position and give my credentials.

Re: Looking For Entry Level In Orange County FL

Hey! I used to live in Orange county. Unfortunately they only take people with forensic science degrees. I used to speak to the CSI supervisor at the Orange County Sheriffs Office. I suggest working on a Forensics Degree or Crime Scene investigations degree. I have an A.A in forensics and  B.A in crime scene as well as a crime scene technician certification. I moved from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale because I finally received a job as a crime scene technician/investigator. I suggest doing research and network with as much people as you can! Good luck I hope you find what you are looking for and Thank you for your service!

Re: Looking For Entry Level In Orange County FL

Thank you for your reply, My Bachelor is in Criminal Justice and a minor in forensic evidence. I'll be taking a few courses to certify myself as a Crime Scene Investigator, although I'll be lacking the 1 year experience required by The IAI, so I'm considering law enforcement since the 1 year experience was in a criminal related work. But I also have military experience as a 92M, in were I conducted several autopsies in. And I'm working towards a Masters in Criminal Justice in UCF, I think the networking is what I have to do more of. But thank you for the reply, best of wishes in your career in Fort Lauderdale!

It may be hard to find a career in crime scene without a B.S. or M.S. in Forensics or a hard science. I moved from Seminole County, right next to Orange County, to start my career as a Crime Scene Technician in a different state. My county, who I worked with as a 911 operator and Field Service Officer to help with my career aspirations, would not hire me unless I had a forensic degree. My current position did not require a forensic's degree but did require a B.S. in the criminal justice field. I would suggest changing your M.S. degree at UCF to Forensic Science or enroll online to the M.S. program in Forensics at UF (as I am to help with future career options). Hope this helps!
