My name is John I am 24 years old I have my Associate's in criminal justice, certificate in forensics, and just 8 courses away from my Bachelor's in criminal justice. My question to everyone and anyone is what should I do next. I feel like I am wasting time because every job I find on here is requiring a bachelors degree. Once I finish my Bachelor's should I get a certificate in crime scene investigation to add to my education or would what I have be enough. Does anyone have any other sites or places to check for jobs that are entry level?
What exactly are you trying to do? Do you want to work in a crime lab or do you want to do field work? I would say a Bachelor's is enough for most law enforcement agencies; I got my job with just a B.S. Upon my observation, though, a lot of the time a degree in natural sciences, criminalistics, or forensic science is preferred. If you have the time and finances, furthering your education can't hurt. This is probably the best site I've come across for forensics-related work information. I used governmentjobs.com, CSI Network's Twitter account (easier to navigate), and the IAI website when I was job hunting. I hope that helps.
